5010/ICD-10 Readiness Center

Starting January 1, 2011, GHN-Online will accept 5010 transmissions.

GHN-Online has begun surveying payers to assess their readiness for testing in 5010 format. The 5010 testing will be established payer-by-payer as payers start scheduling and publishing implementation dates. GHN-Online will continue to convert 4010, NSF, XML, and Print Image submissions to the 5010 format, and we will continue to maintain all business rules and validation algoritms as necessary.

Effective January 1, 2012 all payers will be required to receive electronic transactions in the 5010 format.The HIPAA 5010 is mandated for all covered entities, i.e. all healthcare entities, clearinghouses and associated business partners handling patient/healthcare data. The goal of 5010 is to reduce ambiguity, increase the consistency of data, and enable more precise industry benchmarks and standards to be established.

Health Care Claim: Professional or Institutional (837I and P).
Health Care Eligibility Benefit Inquiry & Response (270/271).
Health Care Claim: Payment / Advice (835).
Health Claim Status Request & Response (276/277).

To Ensure Your Readiness, join our Vendor Support Program:

Contact GHN-Online and your practice management system vendor to coordinate for 5010 system upgrade and testing.
GHN will inquire when your Vendor is planning to upgrade your system to 5010 format. Testing can occur well before the compliance deadline.
GHN-Online will communicate with all payers to determine if 5010 conversion will affect your NPI enrollment requirements.
GHN-Online will schedule and publish a date for your system vendor's upgrade.
GHN-Online will notify you of any data reporting changes affecting your workflow.
